The African National Congress had its lowest share of the electoral vote in a quarter of a century.
The re-election of President Cyril Ramaphosa told the audience that the vote had given him and others “a firm mandate to build a better South Africa for all.”
With all votes counted, the ANC had 57.5% according to the electoral commission.
The party won 62% of the vote in 2014.
