Here is part of an episode of ABC’s Nightline that turned out to be its longest edition in its history at two hours and twenty minutes. Nightline had previously visited South Africa in 1985 for a week of shows, and returned again five years later from Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg. Among the guests are Education Minister Stoffel van der Merwe, black anti-apartheid leader Rev. Allan Boesak, white anti-apartheid activist Helen Suzman and Koos van der Merwe.
