Political events of the past week has once again brought to the fore how South Africans are devided around racial lines. Be it politics or sports blacks South Africans are battling to unite against their difference in colour.
The return of former DA leader Helen Zille to the party as its new Federal Chair subsequently resulted in the resignations of its party leader Mmusi Maimane, Joburg mayor Herman Mashaba as well as Athol Trollip.
To many black people, this signalled a purge of black leaders from a party mostly seen as the guardian of white privilege at the expense of the majority black voters.
Can South Africa ever rise above politics of race and racial identity? – that’s our question tonight on Unfiltered.
